Liliput is the European brand from Bachmann, and focuses mainly on H0. They also offer some G scale rolling stock, and two sets of metal wheels as well. Liliput offers both solid metal wheels (#999300) and spoked metal wheels (#999304). I decided to do this review as not many Europeans know these Liliput wheels are a great alternative for LGB wheels.
Article Number: 999300
Product Description: Metal wheel set, disc wheels (4 pcs.)
Norm: NEM 313 (MOROP)
Diameter: 31,0 mm
MSRP (2015): € 32,00
The wheels come in a pack of four. While the MSRP lies at € 32,00 (it seems like it has been increased recently), street prices are much lower as you may find them for € 20.00 per pack.
The wheels are full metal. The wheels are insulated, as there’s a small plastic ring between the axle and the wheels.
For comparison, the LGB wheels feature a stainless steel rim around a plastic center. The LGB wheels also have a shiny wheel tread and flanges, the Liliput wheels are a much darker colour. Both are roughly the same size.
They look a lot more prototypical.
Here’s how they look under a PIKO hopper car.
For a long time I had only used LGB and PIKO wheels, until I discovered these Liliput wheels! They look good, and they run very well. Since they are full metal, they are quite heavy and they make a nice ‘clickety-clack’ sound.
If you can find these for € 20 – € 25 per pack, you should definitely buy them.
